This week's fixation
While I agree with people who point out that Sherlock should have been able to deduce something about Irene, it doesn’t bother me. Because the thing that would most fascinate Sherlock Holmes about a woman would be inscrutability. My earliest fantasies of meeting 19th-century Holmes always involved my being completely unreadable to him… in that case by virtue of my being from the 21st century.
